What should we pay attention to when using ball splines?

The Spline Nut and the Spline Shaft

●Do not remove the spline nut from the spline shaft unless necessary.If the spline nut is reinstalled to the spline shaft after the inevitable removal of the nut,the ball position on the spline nut should be aligned with the groove position of the spline shaft,and the spline shaft should be gradually inserted straight into the spline nut.If the spline shaft is tilted when inserted,a ball may fall or the circulation part may be damaged.

●If the spline shaft is stuck in the middle when inserting the nut,do not force the nut into it,just pull it out once,recheck the ball position and groove position of the spline shaft,and gradually insert it directly into the nut.

●After inserting the spline shaft into the spline nut,check whether the spline nut or spline shaft turns smoothly.Loss of function can occur even if the product appears intact if spline shafts are forcibly inserted.

Handling

●Disassembly of components is prohibited.Doing so may cause dust to enter the product or reduce assembly accuracy.

●When assembling spline nuts or spline shafts,tilting may cause them to fall under their own weight.

●Falling or hitting the micro ball spline may damage it.Subjecting the product to impact may result in a loss of function,even if the product appears intact.

Lubrication

●Before using this product,thoroughly remove anti-rust oil and add lubricant.

●Do not mix lubricants of different physical properties. 

●In locations exposed to constant vibrations or in special environments such as clean rooms,vacuum and low/high temperature,normal lubricants may not be used.Contact ALM for details. 

● When planning to use a special lubricant,contact ALM before using it. 

●When adopting oil lubrication,the lubricant may not be distributed throughout the product depending on the mounting orientation of nut.Contact ALM for details. 

●Lubrication interval varies according to the conditions.Contact ALM for details. 

Precautions on Use

●Foreign material entry will damage the ball circulation part or cause loss of function.Prevent dust,cutting chips and other foreign material from entering the product.

●When planning to use this product in an environment where coolant penetrates into spline nuts,depending on the type of coolant,the function of the product may be disrupted.For details,contact ALM.

●Do not use the product at a temperature above 80°C.Contact ALM if you desire to use the product at a temperature above 80°C. 

●If foreign material,such as dust or cutting chips,adheres to the product,replenish the lubricant after cleaning the product.For the type of the cleaning fluid to be used,contact ALM. 

●When using the product in locations exposed to constant vibrations or in special environments such as clean rooms,vacuum and low/high temperature,contact ALM in advance. 

●Removing the spline nut from the spline shaft and then reattaching it to the shaft may cause the ball to fall.Be very careful when handling this product.
